Thanks to Kuvikkam for such a செவி
உணவு of both இலக்கியச் சிந்தனை and குவிகம் இலக்கியவாசல்!!
Thiru Devaraj Swamigal was absolutely amazing!
I saw Acharyan Ramanujar in him. There is an anecdote about
Ramanujar being confronted by a number of Jain intellects who begin shooting
questions simultaneously to Acharyan. Ramanujar has an answer for each of them.
He wishes each to hear him. He requests a திரை be
drawn that shields him from the audience requesting that no one look inside
either. That is done and Ramanujar takes his form of Lord Adisesha and answers
all 1000s of scholars at the same time.
I visualized this as he touched upon various aspects with
such ease! Without much ado, with the same even tempo, Swamigal so eloquently
explained why and how Ramanujar knew, respected, Tamil language.
He touched on so many facets: The ones I carried home with
me:
1. The way Ramanujar said the
variant of how the onus of "மதி" is not at par with
"மதம்".
2.Yet another gem was the way
Ramanujar did not search the Bhashyam instead said what is the content in it
was.
3.Equally beautiful of how IQ
is specific so it is limited whereas that is not so with EQ, it is totally a
multidimensionality!
4.I was awestruck the way he
illustrated the lack of "correct" Tamil, teachers or students or
inclination!! 5.He clearly brought the evidence in
Melkote with such ease of explanation.
6. He substantiated points
that was so enjoyable to hear. Thiruvaimozhi to Nachiyar were mentioned!! Each
Azhwar-their quotes and Thiruppavai to substantiate points was Weaved so
elegantly.
6. While he extolled
Ramanujar's philanthropy, his vision of social quality, command of the doctrine
Swamigal did not dwell on these instead stayed on course.
7. The 1
hour he shared his knowledge it was obvious of his Love for Ramanujar, his
conviction of the Vishishta Advaitha!!
8. Oh and I would always
remember the significance he drew of the seen-not seen issue through the "முயல்-கோம்பு", "ஆகாயம்-தாமரை",
மலடி-மகன் portrayal!!
9. Not one condescending word
or gesture of other faiths. All he said was AdiShankarar and Madhwacharya saw
things from their angle.
10. The person Lord Kannan
searched for was like a beaming light for us to look within!!
I can go on and on!! That impactful it was. I could not
share this with Swamigal only because to me He was Grand Adhiseshan Ramanujar,
teacher from whom we learn -how do you go tell an Acharyan, "you are a
such an impactful teacher?"
After that the three distinguished authors sharing "நினைவில் நின்ற கதை" was another rich experience!
The distinguished first author with a loud, clear voice not
only shared why he liked the story but also what constitutes a short story. He
brought out the parts of antagonist, protagonist, conclusion so well! Reading
snippets gave us the feel of the author too! Despite no mike facility, his
booming voice and enjoying the experience we did not count the sheets he had in
his hand! He made us see the different angles of the title!
Dr.Bhaskar who did it next, managed to rip out our hearts to
pieces relating about Gomathi's travails. He juxtaposed his thoughts, why he
liked this with the story thereby lent it a very special connect to the
characters Mani-Gomathi vis-à-vis us, the audience. I wonder, if he wore such a
casual posture just so to diffuse the seriousness? It was a relief to know
Gomathi-Mani survived and continue to be faring better. The way he concluded
showcased what we just heard earlier of the twist a short story should carry!
Apart from being a doctor and a writer he has up his sleeve story telling too!
I say this because he transported us to that கடை வீதி!
Despite it being 8PM by then Mr.Bhaskar the
third in order monoacted/ role played Sujatha's "Nagaram"!! It was
palpable to feel Pappathee, Valliammal struggles. He sketched Madurai between
text reading, his thoughts and connecting it to the current! Even though we
have read this story the way he kept injecting "என்னங்க
இது"? kept getting us into the story loop. The prologue to choosing
the story was an interesting take.
Thanks goes to Mr.Kripananadan who efficiently but silently
orchestrated each aspect with absolute ease. To see about 50(?)
interested minds there was very satisfying.
Thank you a ton Sir,
Namaskarams
